The view from the dining area reveals a spacious-looking, well-illuminated kitchen replete with island, task lighting, and recessed ambient lighting as well as natural daylighting for the entire space. The color-coordinated pendants add a playful and colorful touch to this unique space.
This kitchen remodel was a reface rather than a redo. The cabinets doors were refaced, and a glaze added to lend the two-tone appearance. The island includes an addition of turned legs, giving it a stronger, stylized presence and an invitation to linger over a beverage. The running bond pattern, multi-sized leather texture tile floor coordinates beautifully with the counter granite. The counter-depth refrigerator allowed for a built-in look while facilitating the compact work triangle. There is no shortage of light sources, including the task lighting over the sink, recessed cans, above- and below-cabinet lighting, and the colorful pendants over the island which lend a unique touch.
This detail photo of the underside of one cabinet reveals one of several power outlet strips around the kitchen, well-hidden along with under-cabinet lighting by the placement and choice of white to blend in with the cabinetry and backsplash. This gives the backsplash a clean run and eliminates the need for plug outlets.
Seen from this view, the work triangle is contained within a compact space behind the camera lens, allowing for plenty of room to gather, mingle, and eat. The recurring color in the pendant lights helps draw the eye from space to space along with color coordination of counters, walls and flooring.
