his functional kitchen accommodates a couple with disparate heights, so there are three different counter heights for working and eating. All cabinetry in this remodel was site-built for an abundance of storage (see other photos). The chimney-style venthood required additional framing to accommodate its weight.

In this well-illuminated kitchen you will find task and ambient lighting sources from pendants, recessed cans, under-cabinet mounts and natural daylight. The island offers ample workspace in addition to a lower eat-in area, and on the cooktop side there are open shelves for easy access to pots and pans (not shown).

A close-up of the window wall highlights the warm, textured mosaic tile and liner, which are below the 4″ tile that runs up to the bottom of the under-lit cabinets. The prep sink allows the owners to work together in this inviting space – and that commercial faucet at the window could fill anything large!

In addition to the state-of-the-art refrigerator (not shown), the kitchen boasts of an extra large wine chiller and a small beverage cooler in stainless steel. Under-cabinet lighting throughout the space simplifies tasks and adds to the brightness of the kitchen.

In this spacious pantry of built-ins, the family pet has its own elevated dining area.

Adding a spacious laundry room with plenty of storage was an important component to achieving the owner’s goals in this house remodel. This well-lit, utilitarian space has natural daylighting in addition to overhead fluorescents. The cabinetry style and hardware are continued from the kitchen into this space

The style and hardware of these site-built cabinets in the laundry room addition match those in the kitchen and home office spaces.

The recessed lighting of this home office space can double for task lighting as well as illuminating art on the walls, and the granite countertop lends a very warm, rich surface upon which to work. Notice how the cabinetry styling is echoed elsewhere in this remodel.

As exemplified by the illumination of the art at hall’s end, this hallway’s attractive track lighting makes for a brilliant way of creating an art gallery in the home.

The owner requested that the garage be removed in favor of this elevated, sloped, hurricane-strength steel carport and the integrated brick shed behind for storage.
