Briarpark – Bathroom Addition
Room | Master bathroom |

Project scope | Small bump-out with upgraded fixtures |
Entertaining was the order of the day for the owner of this West Houston bachelor pad, who wanted room in the master bathroom for a tub made for two (and more). While bumping out the wall, we updated the space to have more light, better style, and smarter design. Even though it was a small addition, it made a big difference.
To prepare for the bump-out we poured a new slab and framed up new walls for this bathroom addition. The new layout increases the window count from two small ones to five large ones total on three sides, bathing (if you will) the new space in sunshine.
We both added and subtracted from the bathroom to give the owner the desired look. We took out the furr downs and installed the all-important tub, complete with Silestone countertop tub deck, custom cabinetry, and large format, non-slip tile in a mural-style pattern. The tub surround is actually PVC painted to look like wood to eliminate the possibility of wood rot from moisture.
Though the tub is the star, we didn’t neglect the shower. The new custom build sports new tile with decorative accent inserts, two shampoo niches, and a handy corner seat, with the door pull doubling as a towel bar. The striking frameless design looks amazing and also minimizes water build-up and mold formation.
Having multiple people in the bathroom calls for multiple sinks. The new vanity features the same countertop Silestone as the tub deck, with universal design-friendly lever-handle faucets. A new mirror with vanity light cutouts runs the length of the counter to a unique and convenient feature: coiled towel cubbies.

Project Highlights
- The shape of the sinks were carefully chosen to mimic that of the tub.
- A newly installed two-lighted vent fan on a dedicated timer will help remove excess moisture created by a hot bath or shower and prevent mold and mildew from growing.
- Part of the tub surround is a tub motor access panel door that has been carefully matched to blend with the other cabinetry doors.
